As June approaches, reflect on progress, goals and effort

With warmer weather and the end of school year in sight, many students are relaxing their study habits and easing into vacation mode too early. Help your child stay focused through the end of the year by engaging in an open conversation that reflects on her progress, goals, and effort this year so far. Discuss which of her goals she has already achieved, which goals are still underway, and which goals she might set for herself for her final month of school. Specifically, emphasize the consequences of “checking out” too early, and remind her that, to get the grades she has worked hard for all year, she’ll need to keep pushing herself until her last assignment is turned in.
