Tip of the Week
A picture paints a thousand words
Use visuals to increase engagement and foster a deeper understanding. Whether it’s for supporting a daily routine for your elementary student, helping to make connections between characters in a book, making sense of a timeline of events, or creating a board of goals and aspirations, visuals benefit students in myriad ways. Pictures can aid organization and managing time, deepen comprehension, clarify steps in a process, boost memory and increase retention, simplify transitions, help manage behavior, and provide inspiration. And searching for images online or in magazines to support learning is a different and fun activity and may, in itself, foster greater engagement. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words.
