Don’t forget the last step!

In an effort to finish their homework as quickly as possible, many students skip the last and important step of checking their work. Teachers always stress the importance of checking one’s work before handing in an assignment as it can positively affect the final outcome. As you model for your child how to check their work, keep these three standards in mind:

1. First, have your child determine whether or not they have answered all of the requirements of the assignment. Re-read the directions or rubric carefully!
2. Next, challenge them to find opportunities for improvement. Even minor edits/changes will improve a final grade. 
3. Then, review the assignment to catch careless mistakes. We all make them!
