Tip of the Week
Fix the bottleneck
New Year’s resolutions tend to focus on big goals and big changes. Executive function grows in a different way, through small adjustments rather than big overhauls.
As you think about this year’s resolutions, look for the bottleneck. Notice where things consistently break down. Maybe work gets done but doesn’t get turned in. Maybe materials disappear between school and home. Maybe time keeps running out before assignments are finished.
Then unclog it with a simple structure: a daily turn-in check, a consistent home for materials, or a habit of thinking ahead about how long each assignment will take.
Keep this year’s resolutions focused and doable. Strengthen the system to help new skills stick.
Happy New Year from all of us at Engaging Minds!
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2026!
