Know the rules of the game

“It’s not worth that much.”
“I don’t need to turn in every homework assignment.”
“Late work doesn’t really matter.”

Maybe. But before you decide something doesn’t matter, know for sure.

How much is homework actually worth? What’s the late-work policy? How much will that missing assignment affect the grade?

Encourage your child to learn how each class works, what each teacher expects, and where to find that information. Then they can make decisions based on facts, not assumptions.

“It barely counts” is a lot easier to evaluate when you know exactly how much it counts.
