Tip of the Week
Maximize the opportunity
Parent-teacher conferences are on the horizon. Here are a few tips to help get the most out of your time with your child’s teacher:
- Ask your child their favorite and least favorite things about school so far. This conversation will provide you with excellent data to share with the teacher that they may not have gleaned otherwise. The more teachers know, the better they can do for your child.
- Share specific strategies or approaches with your child’s teacher that have worked for your child in the past. Your child’s teacher is still getting to know your child. Why reinvent the wheel if you have tried-and-true strategies that work?
- Be specific with your questions. For example: Are there specific ways you (or your child’s tutor) can best support your child outside of school hours? Teachers appreciate having a partner at home.
