Tip of the Week
Recognize the early signals
Most academic challenges give us early signals. They don’t appear overnight; they build quietly until suddenly things feel overwhelming. Small shifts like a little avoidance, rising frustration, or work taking longer than usual are often early signs that a system is starting to break down.
When you notice those changes, early action makes a real difference.
Here are a few ways to be proactive:
- Name what you’re seeing without judgment
- Zoom in on where things are getting stuck (starting, planning, managing time)
- Adjust the approach, not the expectation with targeted strategies
- Add quick check-ins before stress piles up
Executive function grows through timely support. Acting early isn’t overreacting. It is helping your child stay ahead of the curve, before small bumps turn into bigger detours.
