Share Important Insights With Your Child’s Teacher

Parent-teacher conferences are on the horizon. Here are two quick tips to help get the most out of your time with your child’s teacher during Covid:

  1. Use the conference as an opportunity to share important insights about your child that the teacher may not have gleaned yet. Given that your child’s teacher is not seeing your child in person every day, assume they haven’t picked up on every nuance yet about your child. They’ll be grateful for the additional data and insight you can offer. Teachers want to help, and the more they know, the better they can do.

Be specific with your questions. Ideally you’re seeking guidance and specifics so you can best support your child at home. For example: “My child is having a hard time finding all their independent work on remote days. How can we help them manage this better?” Or: “What can we do to ensure we’re promoting good reading habits at home?”
