Tip of the Week

April 25, 2022

Slow down!

If your child is rushing through homework, try instituting a homework hour (or hours depending on the age of your child) rather than a homework time. For example, if homework hour is from 4pm-5pm and your child finishes their homework at 4:30pm, they can choose a book to read or study for an upcoming quiz until the hour is complete. The key is to set the expectation that your child will be doing something academic for the entire hour. By doing so, you will help diminish your child’s desire to rush through their work, and will likely get them to engage with their work more fully.
