Slow down, you move too fast

If your child rushes through assignments, it’s likely that oftentimes they’re not meeting all the requirements. To slow them down so they can give each assignment the attention it deserves, have your child return to the directions or rubric and rephrase each requirement as a question starting with “Did I…?” This self-monitoring strategy will clarify whether they have successfully met all the requirements of the assignment. When everything on their “Did I…?” checklist is complete, they can be confident they’re handing in more thorough work and know they’ve put forth a stronger effort.
