More Adults Are Seeking Executive Function Support—Here’s Why

Adult ADHD diagnoses are on the rise.  A recent New York Times article reports they have jumped by more than 60% among people ages 30 to 64 since 2021. Factors contributing to this surge include heightened awareness, improved access to telehealth services, and a growing cultural openness around mental health. It’s not uncommon for parents to recognize their own ADHD symptoms after their child receives a diagnosis.

Many challenges associated with ADHD stem from underlying executive function weaknesses. Even without a formal diagnosis, countless adults grapple with daily tasks such as time management, prioritization, organization, and maintaining focus. These difficulties can impact both personal and professional spheres. Often, individuals internalize these struggles, labeling themselves as “scattered” or “lazy,” when, in reality, these are skill areas that can be enhanced with the right tools and support. Untreated executive function deficits can have a significant impact on self esteem.
