This weekend’s NFL Draft was full of exciting moments—dreams realized for some, and disappointment for others. Among the headlines was a highly touted player who slid from a projected first-round pick all the way to the fifth round before his name was called. While it’s not entirely clear why his stock fell, he now joins a long list of athletes who have faced unexpected twists on draft day.

It’s a valuable reminder for our students that nothing is guaranteed. Preparation, consistent effort, and not taking anything for granted are what truly pave the way for lasting success. Talent and smarts may open the door, but work ethic, consistency, and attitude are what keep it open. Every test, every paper, every small moment matters. While many chase the big outcome, it’s really about respecting and committing to the process that leads them there.
