This could be a Disney movie

One of the best World Cup stories so far has been Cape Verde, a team that represents an island of just over 500,000 people.

For many teams like Cape Verde, simply qualifying for the World Cup could have been enough. Just showing up would have been a victory. But they didn’t come just to participate. They came to make their mark.

As one of the smallest countries ever to qualify for the World Cup, they have held their own against some of the world’s most established teams. They opened with a 0-0 draw against Spain and followed it by coming back to draw Uruguay 2–2 after trailing. Along the way, they scored their first-ever World Cup goal.

Led by 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha, who made seven saves against Spain in their opener, Cape Verde showed that resilience isn’t about being perfect. It’s about staying ready, being prepared, and responding when the moment comes. An incredible story.
