Be a partner and guide rather than tell

One of the first steps toward helping your child become a more successful student is by being a partner in the process. Your role as a parent (and ours as teachers) is to guide rather than tell. If your child feels as though she is determining which strategies she feels will work best for her, she will take more ownership of the process and be more likely to engage with them.
