Establish routines

When your child thinks “summer,” she probably does not think “routine.” However, summer can be an excellent time to establish and practice new routines that will be useful when school resumes in September. In a recent blog, we discussed the benefits of exercise for developing brains, and how establishing an exercise routine can be crucial for students who need to work out excess energy, refresh a tired brain, or simply inspire themselves to keep working. Try starting a new exercise routine together this summer, one that your child can practice now and continue using into the fall. When she hits the gym and the books, your child will be the most effective on test day and game day.
