Estimate “time on task” to sharpen time management skills

To better manage homework time, have your child estimate how long he thinks each assignment will take him to complete and then track the actual time he takes to complete it. Note the discrepancies—students often underestimate time on task. By practicing this exercise consistently, your child will be become better able to accurately assess how much time he needs to complete his homework each night, and he will gain more control and confidence over his planning and time management skills.
