Tip of the Week
Excited or Uneasy About the New School Year?
As we begin the new school year, some students are excited to get back to school, while others are a bit more reticent and nervous. If you’ve got the excited child, take advantage and do some previewing and planning around his weekly schedule, the best spaces to do homework in the house, and develop a few goals for the first semester. If you’ve got the more reticent child, try and understand what’s making him feel uneasy. Perhaps he’s nervous about a new school, new teachers, increased workload, or is feeling the pressure to succeed at the next level. Often, students just need to verbalize their concerns and be heard. Knowing that you’re there to catch him if he falls may be all he needs to regain a sense of control and boost his confidence.
Wishing everyone a successful start to the new school year!
