Keep your schoolwork with you

Unscheduled “downtime” can occur virtually anytime (and often when we least expect it), so a good rule of thumb for students of all ages is: keep your schoolwork with you. This is not to suggest lugging an overstuffed book bag wherever your child goes, but a book for English, worksheets for math, or flashcards for science can all fit nicely into a coat pocket or travel folder. With a little planning, whenever your child finds herself with some extra time she can still be productive and get something done.
