One goal at a time

When your child is struggling in school, there is a natural tendency to want to try and fix everything all at once. But instead of overwhelming your child with five or ten different goals, focus on just one (or possibly two) at a time. Think of it this way: if you throw 10 tennis balls to your child all at once, it’s unlikely he’s going to catch any of them. But if you toss him just one at a time? Piece of cake! The path to becoming a successful student is bumpy and is much more of a marathon than a sprint. So set one or two realistic, achievable goals at a time with your child and watch him become more confident and invested each step of the way.
