Set mini-deadlines

As we enter the last few months of school, students are going to be flooded with papers, long-term assignments, and exams. To be sure your child is working on all of these assignments consistently rather than leaving them until the last minute, try the following:

  1. Enter all due dates into her agenda book on the date the assignment is due.
  2. Work backwards from the due date and determine mini-deadlines along the way when she is responsible for completing a piece of the assignment. Then enter those dates into the agenda book as well.

For many students, “out of sight” often equals “out of mind.” By setting mini-deadlines and keeping all of her assignments in plain view in her agenda book, your child will save herself (and you!) tons of last-minute stress.
