Writing and executive function

A fun way to engage your child in some summer writing is to encourage her to become a summer vacation photo-journalist. There are lots of websites (like Shutterfly) that allow you to upload pictures, write captions (of virtually any length) and create a hardcover book. Or, you could have her do it the old-fashioned way as a journal or scrapbook. Either way, it inherently strengthens executive function skills like planning, organization, time management, and flexibility. And as an added bonus, the family will have a wonderful keepsake of the summer of 2014!
