Tip of the Week
Turn screen time into storytelling
Whether you’re off on an adventure or enjoying a staycation, invite your child to become the family photojournalist. Each day provides an opportunity for students to think creatively about how they want to tell each part of their vacation story through pictures and words.
Without realizing, your child will be strengthening executive function skills like planning, organizing, task initiation, flexibility, and organization of ideas. And they’ll be using their device for a purpose! To make it even more fun and unleash their creativity, use a tool like Mixbook or Book Creator to turn their photos and reflections into a real book.
Becoming a photojournalist is a meaningful way to engage your child’s mind while staying fully present. By the end of the week, they’ll have created a one-of-a-kind keepsake they’re proud to share with the whole family.
