One of summer’s greatest gifts is boredom.
However, when children say they’re bored, our instinct is often to jump in with ideas.
But those quiet moments are where executive function skills begin to grow. Planning, creativity, problem-solving, and initiative all have room to emerge when we’re willing to let boredom linger.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is wait five more minutes.
