When Homework is Complete

What’s more frustrating for your child than having done their homework but not getting credit for it? A simple rule of thumb to help ensure students are getting credit for all the work they’ve completed is: “Homework isn’t complete until it’s filed away, ready to be handed in.” During Covid (and it was already shifting prior to Covid), we must amend that rule of thumb to include submitting homework via online portals: “Homework isn’t complete until it’s filed away, ready to be handed in OR submitted via your online portal.” To help your child remember this final step, employ the “double check” method. Cross out the homework assignment from the to-do list when it’s done, and then mark a check next to it when it’s either filed away to be handed in or submitted online.
