Our daughter’s instructor was a great coach and partner for my child. She had endless patience for her, which is no small task at the end of the day, after my daughter is exhausted and her ADHD meds have worn off and she has more trouble focusing than usual. I appreciated the practical step and processes that her coach brought to homework and other tasks, and Engaging Minds, overall, offers an excellent service to families.

Our son is finding the weekly meetings very helpful. We appreciate your time and expertise. This has been a win for our son! Thank you!

Parent of an 11th grader

Thank you for your ongoing support. I have never seen our son so engaged with school which is really nice to see. Thank you!

Parent of an 8th grader

Engaging Minds has meant the difference for our high school student! It is a great skills based program that teaches students how to study and strengthens the executive function skills, which is the key to academic success! And it really works! Thank you so much Dan and the entire team for creating such an amazing and critical program!

Parent of a 10th grader

Our son has been working with Engaging Minds for several years now. Engaging Minds kept him on track and fresh during the very difficult year-plus of Covid disruption in school. His tutor makes it fun and he looks forward to every session. Thank you!

Parent of a 5th grader

Engaging Minds has been fantastic! They’re able to connect with our son and guide him appropriately down the right path week after week – he enjoys the sessions and we’re happy (complete win!). We recommend them highly!

Parent of a 7th grader

I wanted to share some positive feedback. My son is really connecting with you. He is grateful for your direction and he feels your approach and help has been very valuable. He wanted to make sure I forwarded the positive feedback. We are grateful that it is working out. Great job! Thank you!

Parent of an 11th grader

I have to tell you – our daughter is SO positive when I ask her about how she is finding these sessions. I can see that her school-related anxiety is much lower than last year and that she is feeling empowered by taking a more structured approach to her work. She even cleaned out her backpack this weekend completely self-motivated. Now if only she would clean her room! We cannot thank you enough!

Parent of an 8th grader

The outstanding experience our first grader has had in the EM Early Readers program this past year has exceeded our expectations and we can’t thank you enough.  Three things really stand out: (1) our son really looks forward to and enjoys his weekly sessions where his tutor empowers him by letting him help “set the agenda” and makes the learning experience fun with a variety of techniques; (2) His reading fluency and attention to detail has improved at a faster rate than we anticipated – even his elementary school teacher has remarked on his substantial progress; and (3) the prompt weekly communications we receive as parents with summaries of his sessions are both thoughtful and helpful in that they give us insight into his learning that we don’t otherwise get and allows us to monitor his progress.  We are huge fans of this program and would give it our highest endorsement!

Parent of a 1st grader

I just wanted to share our son’s grades with you as we are so proud of him for the improvements he’s made and the good work he puts in each day. We really appreciate all of your help and think that he has benefited tremendously from his sessions with you. He still grumbles a good bit about various things related to homework, but it’s clear he’s gaining valuable EF skills he can use in so many different domains. We were also happy to see that his teachers’ comments reflect an understanding of the arc of his progress from the first trimester to the second. Thanks so much!

Parent of a 6th grader

We have been impressed with the professionalism and personal support Engaging Minds has offered our family and our 9th grader. We were referred to them for executive function coaching and they have been AWESOME! We appreciated talking to Dan before even getting started, and then throughout the interview process and as we found the right coach for our daughter. The detailed feedback we got from each session was extremely helpful, and we feel our child received OUTSTANDING support, guidance and tools from her coach throughout her time with Engaging Minds. We highly recommend Engaging Minds and their entire Team!

Parent of a 9th grader

Our third grader absolutely loves her Engaging Minds tutor and experience – we are so impressed with what we have seen.  Our daughter was generally keeping up in school but she was slow to build confidence, often lacked motivation and was guilty of overthinking basic problem solving.  The EM approach has addressed all of these areas and then some!  We have noticed that her sessions have resulted in increased energy toward her school assignments, a stronger desire to do well, a higher level of focus and most importantly, a boost to her confidence which is priceless to us.  We also appreciate that her tutor pro-actively asked to communicate with her elementary school teacher to make sure she really understood our daughter’s relative strengths and weaknesses. Thank you!

Parent of a 3rd garder

We wanted to take this opportunity to express huge gratitude for Engaging Minds. Our son’s experience with his instructor has been great, in many different ways. He was skeptical and nervous about starting with Engaging Minds in the fall, and really, this echoed his feelings about pretty much all things academic after such a hard first year of middle school. In just a few months, we have seen such a difference in him. He is feeling happy and proud of his work and grades, feeling positive about and even sometimes borderline looking forward to school, and most importantly, he really seems to feel a sense of autonomy and self-direction over his academic life. We know this is invaluable for his confidence and self-esteem. And we know that so much of this is due to the Engaging Minds philosophy and model, and the way in which our son’s instructor carries that out and finds ways to connect authentically with him. We are really grateful.

Parent of a 7th grader

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for all that you’ve helped me with in the past 3 years. You’ve taught me so many skills that have made my life easier and have given me more confidence in myself, and I’m so grateful for that. I also just wanted to thank you for all the fun memories! I always looked forward to joking around with you, sharing movie and TV recs, and swapping dog pictures. I’ll miss working with you a lot!

College Sophomore

Engaging Minds has been an important partner in helping us figure out our daughter’s (ever-evolving) solution to her ADD and her own unique executive function challenges. Toward the end of 6th grade she was digging herself out of a hole, academically. But by the end of the first trimester of 7th grade she had achieved High Honors! We’re so proud of how she’s learned and grown rapidly in a short period of time and how she can now support herself, using all academic resources available to her, including Engaging Minds.

Parent of a 7th grader

My son will be the first admit that even through Zoom this was an incredibly helpful experience. He was reluctant at first, but by the end of the year was looking forward to the sessions and what he could accomplish. His grades were better than ever this year, but more important is the confidence and skill he gained and will be taking with him to his next school.

Parent of a 9th grader

Excellent, thorough, evaluation, recommendations, and program. My husband and I really appreciated the weekly synopsis, and on-going communication.

Parent of a 10th grader

Thank you for working with my son these last few months. Knowing how challenging it was for him to be on Zoom while he was a remote student, it says a lot to me that he only had moments of distraction when working with you. You were able to keep him engaged and interested, which is no small feat. It was obvious early on that he really enjoyed working with you. Thank you also for all the strategies that you used and shared. I was told that we wouldn’t see an overnight change, but I did see him making strides in his independence and work habits. I’m very hopeful that he will continue to build on these areas in the months and years to come.

Parent of a 7th grader

A little over a year ago we contacted you about our daughter. I can remember the initial Zoom meeting when we discussed the type of instructor she works well with. Well, you delivered. Her instructor has been an absolute godsend and I’m not sure how we would have survived the year without her. She kept our daughter on track with her assignments each week and helped her to see other ways of tackling challenging work. It’s not easy for a kid with ADHD to survive a year of Zoom school and she would have likely fallen behind if Engaging Minds wasn’t there to keep her on track. So thank you for providing a service our family desperately needed this year and for delivering in a way that boosted our daughter’s confidence at a time she really needed it.

Parent of a 9th grader

Our son benefited greatly from his sessions. His grades are up and his organizational skills are improving. His teachers are all providing him and us with positive feedback on his work and his behavior. The tools he is learning are working, and he really likes working with his instructor. Thank you!

Parent of a 9th grader

Our son has really benefited from working with his tutor and previous tutor over the past two years. His weekly meetings have helped him organize himself and plan for the week ahead so he can manage his time well and get all his work done. He has learned to be more proactive in engaging with his teachers. Working with his tutor over the summer before his senior year on his college essay and application made the process go much more smoothly. We feel confident that he has gained skills that he can continue to use in college and beyond.

Parent of a 12th grader

I can’t say enough about how great our son’s tutor this year has been. In fact, our son has really valued the experience with all of his tutors over the years. If you had told me in 9th grade that he’d start applying himself in school, thrive in the pandemic through working on his own creative projects, and then get accepted to almost all of the colleges to which he applied including his “reach” schools, I wouldn’t have believed you. His college applications were a breeze (for me) this year since he kept to a strict schedule, and I feel like he has built so many good working habits that will really help him in college. I’m confident he will figure out how to handle those new pressures. This note really doesn’t even go far enough to express our appreciation for all of the support you guys have shown him since 8th grade. Thank you for everything!

Parent of a 12th grader

Our daughter’s self-advocacy has come a long way since the end of last year when we started with you!  She used to be either too shy or not care how it impacted her grades. I can see a huge difference. We are thrilled with her Semester 1 grades. I think it qualifies for honor roll! She is off to a great start in high school despite the hybrid situation. I am so glad we found Engaging Minds last Spring. We had no idea there would be a pandemic and we that would be relying on the Executive Functioning tutoring even more so! I honestly can say I am not sure where our daughter would be without her instructor’s support!

Parent of a 9th grader

A quick note – our daughter came out of the session last night, raised both arms to flex her biceps and declared, “I feel confident!” It was a great moment and an excellent way to begin her birthday week!

Parent of a 5th grader

We appreciate all Engaging Minds did to help our daughter implement best practices around executive function. Thank you.

Parent of a 6th grader

Our son has benefitted so much from his Engaging Minds tutoring sessions. There are many reasons we chose Engaging Minds to support him, including convenient locations and swift pivot to Zoom, flexible scheduling, our personable staff members and tutors. Most importantly, though, our son’s tutors were incredibly supportive, engaging, and skilled at meeting him where he was and elevating him to his potential.

Parent of an 8th grader

I want to thank you for your dedication to working with our daughter each week. She enjoys it so much, and it contributes a great deal to her overall sense of wellbeing and happiness. Thank you!

Parent of an 8th Grader

I wanted to reach out and tell you how happy we are with our instructor and her work with our daughter. Her academic confidence is growing and she is starting to work much more independently and happily! We know this is a testament to the work you are doing with her so thank you!!! We are thrilled with her progress.

Parent of a 6th Grader

Our family has been so grateful for the support of our Engaging Minds tutor since the start of Covid-19 disruptions. My son continued to work with his tutor weekly via zoom during the school shutdown. The transition was seamless and professional. That one hour a week was such a relief for me as a parent – the only time when I could relax, knowing that my child was interacting with another adult outside of our household who knows him well and could help him stay focused, engaged, and intellectually curious during a time of massive uncertainty and confusion. Our tutor supported our efforts to set up and maintain a rhythm, encouraged our son to challenge himself academically, and helped him to set and work toward goals. Engaging Minds has been a God-send for our family for the past several years, and never more than in the past few months during Covid-19.

Parent of a 10th Grader

After nearly two very helpful and successful years with EMs, Covid-19 hit. My 7th grade daughter responded to remote learning traumatically, as did other kids, apparently, especially those who have executive function issues and/or ADHD. EMs quickly adapted to an online format and her coach and I were in contact throughout. She was reporting what I was also seeing as did her school teachers, via Zoom. I was quickly connected with an EM Learning Specialist who brainstormed and strategized with me through the rest of the school year, offering  additional support and consistent follow up. I also appreciated EM’s focus on mental health during that crazy adjustment, and found a webinar they offered on the subject, a month and a half into remote learning, to be helpful and validating. We finally broke through to find some success on which to end the school year which I know would not have been possible without the extra support provided by EM. I feel that my daughter has benefited greatly from the EMs program before and during Covid (and lord willing, after) with the same organized, personal, caring approach throughout the various learning conditions.  She is even enjoying her EM Academy program, as she was dreading having to “do work” over the summer.  Finally, I would also be remiss if I did not mention that I look forward to the weekly tips email, which I immediately forward to my husband each week, and even these tips continued to be relevant and helpful through this time of remote learning.

Parent of a 7th Grader

My family would not have made it through this spring’s Covid 19 school closure without my son’s Engaging Mind’s tutor. My son’s school did not have online classes and only supplied weekly assignments to complete. His weekly Engaging Minds tutoring sessions were vital in helping him find his assignments and come up with a schedule and a plan for how the work would get completed for each subject. They also gave him a weekly opportunity to work on assignments that he could not tackle independently.

Along with staying on top of his assignments, and even improving his completion rate, my son learned and honed valuable executive function skills needed to make it through this pandemic and life. He learned how to check, organize, and respond to teacher emails. He also learned valuable time management skills, as well as study strategies such as placing his phone in a different room, and working in a designated space.  Having someone other than his mother suggesting these things and explaining their benefits, was crucial for my son to get on board and take them on as regular study strategies.

It was such a successful spring that my son asked to continue with the weekly tutoring through the summer to organize and structure his summer reading assignments and work on other personal learning goals and skills.

My son feels like a valued member of his Engaging Minds Team and feels very comfortable expressing his struggles and needs in his weekly tutoring sessions.  It is also very easy as a parent to email the tutor or check in at the beginning of a session and express any concerns or request areas of focus. We have all seen the value and benefits of a weekly coach to help my son stay on track and Engaging Minds does it right!  We will continue with this invaluable program throughout his studies.

Thank you Engaging Minds!

Parent of an 11th Grader

I was concerned that with the changes in my son’s routines due to the community health pandemic he would not sustain the improvements he has integrated into his approaches with managing school work. The Engaging Minds team quickly and efficiently alleviated my concerns. They created a thoughtful and practical plan to continue providing critical and invaluable support to my son. From the consistent messaging to the implementation of simple and easy IT programming my son’s support never wavered.  The team makes it look easy. They never dropped a ball. My son’s weekly session became even more critical for him as everything else in his life changed. There were many times during the remainder of the school year he didn’t have consistency or clarity. The Engaging Minds service cocooned him with much needed support and structure. The only thing that changed was the day and time of his weekly session. All parents are devoted and want their children to be successful. Engaging Minds provides the support, resources and tools to us and our children to help make these objectives a reality. I have witnessed a profound and substantive change in my son’s approach and work habits. I am so incredibly grateful for Engaging Minds.

Parent of an 11th Grader

During the initial remote learning phase this past spring due to Covid-19, we were looking for some one-on-one educational assistance for my daughter to help her navigate all the school assignments and the different platforms through which they were being made. My daughter has some difficulties with organizing her school work and seeing projects through from start to finish, so Engaging Minds’ focus on improving executive function skills as part of the teaching method was a great fit for her generally as well as specifically with regard to the rapidly evolving remote learning landscape. Although our experience has been 100% virtual to date, we are very happy with the level of engagement and instruction, and plan to continue to utilize Engaging Minds for tutoring in the fall.

Parent of a 2nd Grader

I just want to let you know how grateful we are for the support you have provided our daughter. Upon starting Engaging Minds, we saw an immediate increase in our daughter’s academic independence. Our tutor at Engaging Minds and the systems you have in place, helped her not only survive but thrive and continue to build skills during the unexpected transition to an all remote learning environment.

Upon the school closure, our daughter put the EF Skills she learned to use by independently creating her own organizational system and self-monitoring check list. She worked with her tutor to deepen her organization systems, stay on task, and manage her assignments and completion.

Our instructor’s seamless move from in person to online learning exceeded our expectations. She even helped our daughter problem solve and self-advocate when her google classroom was malfunctioning by identifying who to contact, what to say and how to follow up.

This pandemic has riddled our children with the loss of fun extracurricular activities. Voila, the development of Engaging Academy. The course,   Design Your Own Restaurant, provided hours of authentic learning, inquiry and excitement that extended beyond the classroom setting and provided our daughter with hours of fun.

Most importantly, your holistic approach provided us with peace of mind, consistency during uncertain times, and confidence that our daughter was doing her best. Her instructor always wove in general well- being checks to her sessions making my daughter feel so very valued and cared for.

Parent of a 6th Grader

We cannot thank you enough for all the help you have provided our son over this school year. It was great to know he had a grounding appointment mid-week to check in with someone other than a parent or teacher who was kind and direct with support. The first half of the school year started with a strong foundation to absorb the curveball we all received 3rd quarter. It was bumpy, but we had all the supports in place to finish strong and we thank you for that!

Parent of a 7th Grader

Our son did great with his instructor. His teacher and Guidance Counselor noted how well he did this year on all fronts: grades, attention in class, contribution, and comprehension of material. THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to help him be his best.

Parent of a 4th grader

Engaging Minds helped my son with study skills, time management and writing organization throughout high school. His confidence and academic abilities have increased significantly as a result and we are only saying goodbye to EM because he is graduating. A very professional organization that understands that all kids have different needs in their learning.

Parent of a 12th Grader

I just wanted to thank you for your sessions with our son. He really enjoys working with you, and we all appreciate the structure this adds to his week. Thanks for everything you are doing to help him sort out how he organizes his life in this new “normal.”

parent of an 11th grader

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our son’s instructor and everyone else at Engaging Minds who have made such a positive difference in our son’s life. His instructor’s insights and inspiration were terrific. Thank you!

parent of a 12th grader

Thank you for all the hard work you put in with our son this year. He has come a long way! The consistency, kindness, and oversight you provide to him are so invaluable and I’m confident that his final exams are going to go smoothly. I know he hasn’t always been the most attentive student and has given you some resistance this year, but your ability to focus him and keep him on-task has been terrific. Thanks again for all your efforts!

parent of a 9th grader

Thank you so much for work with our son this year. I have especially appreciated your patience with him at times when he has been less receptive to feedback. He has benefited from your coaching in many ways. Most importantly, he seems to be able to handle stress MUCH better than ever before. This has been a major surprise and wonderful development. We expected his anxiety would really ramp up in his first year of high school and have found that just the opposite has happened. You have been a part of helping him practice strategies to stay focused on the big picture, and that really has helped. We look forward to working with you again in the fall!

parent of a 9th grader

Thank you so much for all of your help this year. Our daughter has made great progress with your assistance and she has expressed a desire to re-up with you this fall. I LOVE what she said about what she learned this year about “It’s okay to ask for help and I can get through hard things.” That is AWESOME!!! See you in September!

parent of a 8th grader

The one-on-one coaching model made a huge difference for our son. Having taken an open and honest inventory with him of his academic challenges, his counselor taught him strategies that worked for him, and for the way his brain works. His progress in school has been great to see, and even more so it’s empowering for him to be owning his work. We highly recommend Engaging Minds!

parent of a 12th grader

I’m so thankful for the team at Engaging Minds. In a year and a half my daughter has gained knowledge, skills, and confidence that she can take with her as she goes onto college and beyond. My only regret is that we didn’t find them sooner.

parent of a 12th grader

We really appreciate everything your entire team at Engaging Minds has done to help our daughter. She is feeling much more confident in her organizational skills and we are seeing that reflected in her school work. As a parent it is so nice to see her taking charge of her schedule and assignments. Thank you all again!

parent of a 10th grader

I am over the moon on how this year has progressed for our son. We couldn’t be prouder of his hard work, organizational skills and of course his grades. He found his groove and his confidence and it truly has paid off. We love seeing him reach his potential. He couldn’t have done it without you. We are so thrilled to have him working with you. Thank you for your commitment to helping him and your continued guidance.

parent of an 10th grader

Our son really enjoys his time at EM and I fully believe that he is gaining skills and self-confidence from that hour with his instructor each week. I always knew he had the capability, but he needed the right person to get it out of him. When I asked him if he was happy about the decision to sign him up for EM this spring he emphatically said YES and even went on to say he’s looking forward to coming back in the Fall. WHAT?!?! Three months ago when I told him I signed him up he was not happy and was very against it so that answer says everything! He certainly has grown and learned some new skills in the last few months but I do see what Dan meant when he says you need to stay for a while to really see consistent changes. So he will certainly be back in the fall! Thank you so much for all you’ve done for him. It really means a lot to us and truly added value to his headspace and confidence.

parent of a 10th grader

We are very pleased with our daughter’s continued progress with her school work. She has less stress and anxiety because she has a plan and approach to start her writing and studying. It has improved our home conversations too since we know and see that she is no longer stuck and not starting her tasks. Because of this, I want to personally thank you for your help to get her back on track! We hope to continue this momentum through the summer and of course through the next school year.

Parent of a 10th grader

If anybody told us in the beginning of the year that our son would have all A and one B grades for his last trimester, we would never have believed it. His instructor is the one who made the unbelievable happen! Our son is a different person now – he cares about his studies, he knows what his homework is, and he is proud of his achievements! You should be so proud. The entire team is helping people – students and parents, and making them happy every day! Thank you, we really are forever grateful!

parent of an 8th grader

I was driving home from our session, and I asked my son about how the session went as I knew he was particularly stressed about upcoming final exams. He responded in a very thoughtful way. He explained that his instructor teaches him organizational strategies, but doesn’t teach him the same thing over and over again. The instructor teaches, then checks in, to ensure he is leveraging his new skills. The objective isn’t short term but rather long term  to support my son in his ability to incorporate these techniques to sustain him throughout his life.

I cannot tell you how much of a positive impact Engaging Minds has had on my family. When I was looking for support I was confronted with several companies that were much more expensive and relied on a cookie cutter approach. Most companies employed assertive sales techniques. Engaging Minds came highly recommended from a reputable Neuropsychologist. This program has helped my son so very much. I wish we had found them earlier in the school year. Each person I have interacted with, from the owner, office manager, instructor and Lead Educator is impeccable.

parent of a 9th grader

I wanted to say thank you to everyone at Engaging Minds, and especially my instructor. Engaging Minds has been extremely helpful to me throughout my high school career, and I look forward to further applying what I’ve learned to college and beyond. My instructor, specifically, has helped make my senior year – a particularly stressful period – go as smoothly as possible, and I am incredibly grateful for the role she played in my college application process. Thanks again for all that Engaging Minds has done!

student grade 12

Thanks for all of the work you’ve done with our son over these many months. It was clear that you created a trusting relationship with him and offered a safe environment in which he could open up and try new things. He has learned a lot in his sessions with you, and has had many concrete opportunities in school to practice the skills you’ve been working on together. We look forward to our son continuing to build upon the foundation you’ve helped to develop.

parent of a 7th grader

We are so glad that we found EM. Even though we knew we had a smart and academically engaged kid we struggled to help him as he got beyond elementary school where school demands and all the moving parts involved in the Newton curriculum really became overwhelming for him. His grades didn’t reflect how smart he is. We knew the organizational piece was key for him, but as parents and lay people in this area of learning styles, we didn’t know a solution. Without your business and wonderful tutors I don’t think his grades would have been as good as they now are. You have a wonderful business model and the staff were great at communication, feedback and are just all around nice, caring people. We have recommended your business to a few other families over the years. We wish you future growth and success. We’ll keep you in mind should any future needs arise in college!

parent of a 12th grader

I can’t begin to express my gratitude for your work with my son. This weekend was such a joy because he had made a plan with his instructor and felt confident. He woke up Saturday morning, grabbed his backpack and tackled his homework. He studied for an English vocab and then worked on Bio project. He finished very happy and proud of himself and said to me “I’m so happy you made me go to Engaging Minds.” I know that bio project would not have gone well if I was the one helping him when he was already overwhelmed. So thank you! I just wanted to let you know he really enjoys coming there and I can already see a difference in his approach to things. Thank You!

parent of a 9th grader

We’ve had two children go through Engaging Minds’ program. The oldest entered high school ready and independent with his skills three years ago. I am expecting my second child to be in the same situation when she starts high school. EM worked very hard to find the right tutors for each of my kids. They helped them navigate through grades 4-8 with success.

parent of an 8th grader and 11th grader

The team at Engaging Minds is fantastic at being patient and understanding a child’s needs. They have advanced my nephew’s learning to a whole new level with their wonderful techniques and unique approach to learning. I’d recommend Engaging Minds for any child.

Uncle of a 3rd Grader

Engaging Minds has made a tremendous impact on our son. I REGRET not seeking out EM prior to high school to help him with his weaknesses (executive functioning). My thought process was, laziness and lack of caring was at the core of his inconsistent academic performance. That with hard work and determination he would be able to “right the ship”. This was not the case as I started to learn more and more about the elements of executive functioning and how each child develops at their own pace. He needed help developing these skills and they were able to HELP “right the ship”. We are tremendously grateful the techniques that he has learned. Techniques that he will carry for the rest of his life, life skills. Looking back on this journey I wish I would have found Dan & Engaging Minds when he was in 5th grade! It would have saved a lot of sleepless nights 🙂 The future is bright!

Parent of an 11th Grader

Our son’s instructor was fantastic! He looked forward to meeting with her weekly. He liked having someone focus on his school work with him. His instructor helped him break down assignments, go slower and check his work. I see him attacking word problems now whereas he usually gave up before starting in the past. He may not always get them right but at least he attempts them. My husband and I really appreciated the detailed session notes. The Lead Educator was very important in the process. She was always available to meet with me. She listened, she was prepared for meetings and she accurately and timely conveyed messages to our son’s instructor. You have a great operating structure and we are glad we sent our son to Engaging Minds!

Parent of a 5th Grader

We couldn’t have been more pleased with Engaging Minds and what you’ve done for our son and our family. Our son really struggled 18 months ago and now is doing amazing. About 6 months ago, we stopped helping him and he’s been doing great with the weekly check-in with his instructor. Matter of fact, we think he’ll make straight As the second trimester (fingers crossed for him). I can’t be a bigger advocates for your program. I’ve told so many people about how our son was an unconfident, but bright, student who hated school because of the pressure. Now he comes home, gets right to work, never (ahem, rarely) complains, and is a confident student who rarely worries about school. The transformation has been incredible and I think the skill set you guys gave him is valuable for many aspects of his life. As parents, we try to give our kids these tools, but so often it results in frustration. Our son was extremely hesitant to start the program but even he recognizes the value.

Parent of a 7th Grader

I wanted to share with you that our son was accepted to his top choice school starting in the fall! I want to make sure you know how much we appreciate the many ways that Engaging Minds helped him develop the skills he needs to be successful in school. I hope you will pass our deep gratitude on to his instructor for all of her amazing work with him.

Parent of a 6th grader

Engaging Minds was a very positive experience and our family would recommend EM without reservation to kids who are struggling with managing their schoolwork and staying abreast of their assignments in an organized fashion. EM helped our son understand how to keep calendars and make lists to stay on top of his work (we tried to do this at home, but it was EM which made an impact), to manage his calendar, to break tasks down into manageable sub-components. On a daily basis, our son now keeps track of the work he needs to do, estimates time to completion, and is learning where he tends to over/underestimate time needed and is adjusting his estimates accordingly. EM has also helped him to appreciate how important it is to start working on longer term projects (whether research, papers or simply studying for an exam or completing a book) as soon as possible so that it can be completed well and on time. He studies more efficiently than before attending EM.

Parent of an 11th Grader

I wanted to let you know how grateful we are for all of EM’s support over the years. Our daughter could not have done it without your team! She graduates from high school with a 4.3 GPA, 30 combined on her ACT and a senior year where she is getting As in all 4 of her AP/honors classes. She was accepted at her three top choice colleges. Looking at how much she struggled in Middle School, this is an amazing result and one she never could have achieved alone. With deepest gratitude, thank you!

Parent of a 12th Grader

Engaging Minds has been a life changer. The structure, support and tools that they provide has helped my son immensely. His instructor has “engaged” my son in the process of his learning, allowing him to be successful. The staff is always very responsive and flexible. I would highly recommend this tutorial service.

We are very thankful to have found Megan and Engaging Minds to help our son organize his assignments and school projects. Megan’s thorough breakdown of workload and tasks has been very helpful for us. We feel that while our son has a way to go in maturity and understanding of the tremendous support he is getting, Megan’s attention to detail and followup has allowed us to focus on other aspects of our son’s teenage endeavors. Additionally, Engaging Minds has been very willing to help with alternative techniques and tweaks that we have tried to help our son focus on his schoolwork. We are very happy with Engaging Minds and Megan’s assistance and support of our son’s executive function issues.

Parent of a 9th Grader

Our son has made some nice gains this year thanks to working each week with his tutor at Engaging Minds. He has been able to apply some studying strategies as well as test taking tips into his daily school schedule. She is always available to touch base with and often encourages to check in with him when he has a project due. I love that their sessions are completely focused on HIS learning style.

Parent of an 8th Grader

Our daughter has made huge gains by working with your tutors, learning strategies to approach her work and applying some of the techniques at home. Her confidence has improved and her ability to work more independently is amazing. Thank you!

Parent of a 5th grader

We are going to navigate the coming months without Engaging Minds in the hope that our son can now use the skills he learned there over the last year and a half to really thrive on his own as we prepare to send him to college. He is more confident using the tools on his own that his instructor has been teaching him. We appreciate everything that Engaging Minds and his instructor have provided him with.

Parent of an 11th grader

We’re grateful to Engaging Minds and our daughter’s instructor for making her transition to a new middle school so smooth and positive! Our daughter has found her sessions at EM to be incredibly helpful and has learned many new study strategies and time management tips. Her instructor has been wonderful with her. She is feeling more independent and is ready to try it on her own. Thank you!

Parent of a 6th grader

Our son has learned so much from his tutor last year, and this year’s tutor has also gotten him to adopt really good work habits. He feels like he’s ready to graduate from EM and I think he’s probably right. Thank you – and everyone at Engaging Minds – for helping to get him on track.

Parent of a 12th grader

I want to thank you all for all of the help you have given our son and us over the year. You have turned homework from a nightmare that took all night to something that is simple and fairly short. I even try to implement similar techniques for homework with our younger daughter because they work so well! Thank you!

Parent of a 4th grader

I cannot thank you enough for all the help you have given to my daughter over these past 3 years! She would not be where she is today without it. I am so thankful to Engaging Minds for providing excellent tutors who hone in on problem areas and teach students how to succeed in school by using different strategies to help them learn. Because of your help I know that my daughter will be able to advocate for herself in college if she faces challenges in her studies and use the strategies that you taught her.

Parent of 12th grader

The experience at Engaging Minds has been really beneficial to our daughter. It has opened her up to the possibility of getting extra support and also given her some ideas for practical skills to apply to her areas for growth. Thank you!

Parent of an 8th grader

Our child has benefited immensely from the strategies and supports taught by her tutor at Engaging minds. Some of most beneficial strategies have included time management, editing, and proper note taking skills, among many others. This is not traditional “tutoring”…it truly is a cut above the rest!

Parent of an 8th grader

Words cannot adequately express the gratitude we feel for having our son’s tutor during his 10th grade year. This past school year our son has grown in ways that would have been impossible without his tutor’s steady guidance. In addition, our tutor consistently provided wise responses to my posts on EMChat that allowed me to be a calmer and more supportive presence during challenging academic times. I believe that this is one of the most important things a parent can do for their high schooler and another reason I feel so fortunate to have EM on our “team.” Thanks Engaging Minds and thanks to our son’s tutor! We are so happy we found you.

Parent of a 11th grader

Engaging Minds has been incredibly helpful – the tutors are focused, warm and customize their approach to what each kid needs. The process with Dan at the beginning of our relationship was fantastic and reassured us that the tutor/student match would be great. Can’t recommend EM enough!

Parent of a 7th grader

Our son has only worked with Engaging Minds for a short time but he has a great attitude about the work he and his tutor do together. I feel confident about him starting high school in the fall since he’s had these lessons and learned some organizational skills. Thank you!

Parent of an 8th grader

Engaging Minds has been such a great resource for my kid. She’s bright but struggles with organization and other executive function skills. These skills aren’t learned overnight but our tutor has week by week worked to teach a variety of techniques that have had a great impact not just on my kid’s school work but on her ability to tackle projects at home as well. Although she was reluctant at first, my kid now enjoys the sessions with her tutor because she knows it’s helping her be better prepared in school.

Parent of an 8th grader

I knew there was something I could not give my son and that my teenager did not want from me. It was the lesson of paying attention to detail and organizing that detail. They want independence from you, the parent, and to learn separate from you. I think Engaging minds filled in for me where I saw there was a need, and I could not meet that need. I have seen my son gain confidence as a whole person and gain a positive outlook with regards to academic goals in the future. It has been the ability of an empathetic listener, a persistent tutor who has taught me a lot about my son. Thanks a million. I see massive changes in his motivation level and ability to plan and even study. This has been life changing for him!

Parent of a 9th grader

Thanks so much for all of your work with my son! I can see huge improvements in his time management and study skills over last year. I feel so much better about his college readiness now. I really appreciate your help!

Parent of a 12th grader

As a development pediatrician, I refer children for executive function tutoring on a regular basis. My son recently completed six months of tutoring at Engaging Minds to help with AP classes and college applications, and for the first time in his educational career, this tutoring really helped. We are optimistic about him bringing his new-found organizational, test prep and written expression skills to Tulane in the fall!

Parent of a 12th grader

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how awesome our daughter’s experience has been at EM! Her tutor has helped her so much with her organization, skills and most importantly, her confidence. She never complains about going and even tells me which assignments she is going to save to do with her tutor because “[my tutor] always has good strategies.” In just this short time, she has made a lot of progress towards becoming a more effective and efficient learner.

Parent of a 5th grader

In just a few short months, Engaging Minds has helped my son become a more engaged and self-confident student. My son’s tutor quickly and insightfully understood my child’s learning profile and developed a plan that was tailored to his particular needs. With their help and strategies, my son’s approach to his school work and the work he presents to his teachers has greatly improved. Our tutor’s keen understanding of my child’s specific needs creates a comfortable environment that enhances his overall academic experience. I can’t recommend the program enough.

Parent of 9th grader

A tutoring service targeting executive functioning was the perfect fit for us. Our sixth grader was emotionally overwhelmed by homework. Long-term projects and writing assignments were like torture, and our efforts to help resulted in nightly battles. With his instructor, he is learning to be more confident and independent. Working together, they practice all the skills required to execute a piece of work: organizing, prioritizing, getting started, gauging time, following through. They focus on choosing the best strategy for studying rather than specific content. Homework gets done along the way, but it’s all about how he did it and how he’ll approach it next time.

Parent of a 6th grader

Our second grader has been working with Engaging Minds on strategies for writing — planning the paragraph, defining the topic, and writing sentences that are clear and that support the thesis. In school, he and his classmates had to interview immigrants and then write a paragraph about their experiences. When we read his paragraph — wow! We saw his hard work at Engaging Minds really paying off. He’s gotten a real boost in strategies for approaching challenging assignments.

Parent of a 2nd grader

My husband and I believe that one of the most important elements to learning is confidence and at Engaging Minds our son is rebuilding his confidence with the use of the new skills he is learning. We came to Engaging Minds because our son felt defeated with his learning and lacked the skills to get started and finish assignments – big or small. From the first session he was introduced to skills that he could apply immediately. He has been given a simple framework that helps him break down tasks, organize, complete and check. He can apply these skills with school work and in other areas of life including getting ready for sports. Engaging Minds is not a homework club but a skills club that uses the children’s homework to show the student how to apply the skills. As parents, we can also use the framework to be consistent as he approaches any daily task including his homework. Engaging Minds has been able to start rebuilding his confidence and approach to learning step by step.

Parent of a 4th grader

My 9 year old son has been meeting with a tutor at Engaging Minds for the last several months. He was so happy after his first session — he was thrilled to report on the car ride home that his tutor knew all about sports and is a teacher and a sports writer. They often discuss the Red Sox and the Celtics at the outset of their sessions and then they work hard to improve my son’s organizational skills in the areas of writing and reading comprehension. My son has learned to stick with one book, use a graphic organizer for his writing, pace himself when reading aloud, keep better track of his materials, etc. etc. etc. We receive consistent feedback from our tutor via email that includes the positive aspects of my son’s work and the areas that he needs to work harder on. This feedback is invaluable — we never before had this level of detail from a teacher on our son’s output and overall abilities. My son is always eager to go to Engaging Minds and he is making great strides in every area. We think the experience has boosted his self-esteem as a learner and a person. Thank you Engaging Minds!

Parent of a 3rd grader

My 11 year old son has been working with an instructor from Engaging Minds for a few months now. They made an immediate connection and my son really enjoys their time together. I’m grateful for Engaging Minds’ careful consideration in making the match. It’s still early to see huge changes, but my son is noticing already that his writing is becoming more thorough; he’s learning skills to carefully consider exactly what is being asked of him and that in turn is helping him to answer questions completely. He is also doing a better job of organizing his binder and keeping his assignments and papers in their proper places. I’m thrilled that my son has someone to work with one-on-one who is looking specifically at how he’s approaching problems, helping to organize his initial responses and follow through on his answers. All these steps are helping my son develop into a more efficient, thoughtful and ultimately more satisfied and motivated student.

Parent of a 5th grader

Our son has been meeting with a tutor at Engaging Minds since last summer. We signed him up because he was having trouble breaking down assignments into more manageable steps and following the directions given. He also had difficulty approaching his writing assignments and much of his homework resulted in conflict and tears. We have been so pleased with his progress at Engaging Minds. His instructor has taught him to use graphic organizers to plan his writing assignments and he has been shown how to check and edit his work. They have worked on math assignments with multiple steps so that he learns how to approach more complex problems. As a result, he has become much more independent in all his homework and he is no longer afraid to take some risks in his writing. Overall the tutoring has given him so much more confidence and motivation, and he greatly enjoys the sessions.

Parent of a 3rd grader

Our daughter is in her second year working with her tutor at Engaging Minds and we have all been quite pleased with the results. Currently a 5th grader, our daughter has thrived since she began working with her tutor last year. She has always possessed the intellect, but lacked in self confidence and needed the direction and attention that Engaging Minds has provided in spades. She literally loves the time she spends working with her tutor and this is reflected in the detailed reports we receive from the tutor following each session. These reports provide insight into our child and her thought process and frankly, validate the entire process and experience. The care and consideration shown by founder Dan Levine and his staff, is much appreciated. The results in school have been noticeable by us and our daughter’s teachers. Engaging Minds has been and continues to be a very positive experience for our family and I urge anyone considering them to give them a try.

Parent of a 5th grader

My daughter’s ADHD diagnosis came with many suggestions of how we might support her learning efforts. Our pediatrician pointed us toward Engaging Minds. We were somewhat hesitant to enroll our daughter in tutoring that wasn’t content or curriculum driven. Our hesitation turned to skepticism when multiple sessions seemed to be spent on having our 10 year old design her own planning system. I was curious that no one at EM seemed to think this was a waste of time considering her school had issued a perfectly adequate school planner. I kept my thoughts mostly to myself and waited…in hopes that they actually knew what they were doing. And they did! My daughter has gained organizational and study skills that she can implement in any number of different academic areas. Engaging Minds has transformed her as a learner. In acquiring skills, not only has her academic performance improved, but she has made great gains in self confidence. And that’s been a game changer. As a parent, I appreciate the detailed feedback that I get from my daughter’s tutor through EMChat. Everyone at Engaging Minds is accessible and involved. I find them exceptionally receptive to learning about my daughter from us and from her teachers. As a result, they know my daughter very well and have built a very good relationship with her and with us. I consider the folks at Engaging Minds important resources and supports as we consider future educational decisions. Thank you!

Parent of a 5th grader

We came to Engaging Minds because we thought our son could use some help managing the demands of high school in terms of time management and prioritizing his work. He works with his instructor on keeping his binders and folders neat and organized, and she checks that he is taking coherent notes in class so that he clearly knows what he has to do for homework. Sometimes they even work on organizing his thoughts for an English paper. The feedback we get after each weekly session is extremely thoughtful, relevant and helpful. Truthfully, I was a little afraid that my son would resist another hour of work on top of his long school day, but he really looks forward to meeting with his instructor. When I told him that he would have a week “off” from EM for an upcoming holiday, he actually asked me to re-schedule for another day. I have no doubt that our son is learning valuable life skills that will serve him well in college and beyond.

Parent of a 9th grader

My wife and I have been very pleased with the Engaging Minds experience. Reading has been a challenge for our first grade son and so he was resistant to practicing with us at home. Enganging Minds was recommended to us by other parents in our grade school…and the program has been great for our boy. Each week he approaches his scheduled session with an unusual willingness to work with his teacher. He leaves feeling more confident and being more open to reading with us at home. Following each session, we receive a very detailed and personal report regarding exactly what reading he did, which types of words he struggled with and strategies he was given to improve in challenge areas. It’s great to have such knowledge of his progress and some of the tips we receive help us better work with him when he is at home.

Parent of a 1st grader

Our instructor has such a clear grasp on who our son is and his strengths and his challenges. The clear and consistent communication has been incredibly helpful. We know exactly what he’s working on, and why. Amazing. At Engaging Minds I feel like there Is a plan,  goals, strategies, and things for us to look out for to help him. Our son has gained self-confidence and learning strategies that he can use now and in the future. We are so glad to have found Engaging Minds.

Parent of a 5th grader

We came to Engaging Minds on referral from our physician to help our twin girls develop stronger organization and planning skills. After an initial consult, it became clear that the mission of EM extends far beyond just that, and we determined that our older son could also benefit. With three kids (two 9th graders and an 11th grader) now attending sessions each week, we have seen many pockets of success, ultimately seen in improved performance at school and how they approach their work. Each of the talented, dedicated tutors are very bright, thorough and so capable of understanding the learning styles of the kids so well, and offer many different strategies and techniques around planning, organization, critical reading and analysis and writing. As they had told us, changes will not happen overnight, but they will happen… and they have! The folks within the entire organization are wonderful to work with, and we appreciate the detailed follow-up notes from each session. We look forward to seeing more continued growth in our kids’ skills that will last them a lifetime!

Parent of a 9th grader

My son has been attending Engaging Minds to work on his organizations skills. His skills in this area have improved and he has become more independent and confident. We look forward to continuing working with Engaging Minds and are thankful for their support!

Parent of a 9th grader

We started our son at Engaging Minds at the beginning of his 5th grade year with our primary goal to help him to better organize his thoughts for assignments that involved a written response, something our son found tremendously frustrating, and we had been having very little success in helping him with at home. Through his work with the tutors at EM, he has definitely worked on these skills, but also learned strategies he has been able to apply to organizing all of his work, how he studies for tests, and how he manages his time and focus. Dan Levine took the time to really get to know our son and our goals for him and the tutors he recommended have been a great match. Because of some scheduling constraints, we’ve worked with two different tutors so far and both of them have been very talented in quickly identifying our son’s learning style and challenges and building rapport. The feedback we get after each session through EMChat is incredibly thorough and much appreciated. We learn more from that about what our son is working on than any feedback we’ve gotten from his school. We highly recommend Dan and his team at EM and look forward to working with them into middle school and the future.

Parent of a 6th grader

Engaging Minds has been a very valuable experience for our son. Tensions at home about his homework, grades and lack of organization were at an all-time high. We were all frustrated with each other, our son was extremely stressed out, and we felt that anything we did as parents never quite helped and only added to the stress and frustration. We heard about Engaging Minds and brought him to the initial meeting, not quite kicking and screaming, but he was certainly extremely unhappy about going. We met with Dan Levine and he was able to immediately connect with our son in an honest and personal way. At the end of the meeting we let our son make the choice if he’d start with Engaging Minds, he decided to give it a try. It’s been a wonderful experience for him. He and his instructor have an excellent rapport, he feels extremely supported by her, and he feels that the sessions are helpful. His instructor has great organizational ideas, but when a system doesn’t work or our son doesn’t comply, the instructor always wants to know, listens to him, and has another suggestion or strategy for him to try. Though the line to progress is not a straight line up, we have seen better grades and most importantly a much less stressed out kid. Not only that, our son looks forward to these weekly sessions and never complains about them. I know that sounds like it couldn’t be true but it really is! My only regret, is not starting him with at Engaging Minds earlier in his school career.

Parent of a 10th grader

Engaging minds has been the most positive and effective addition to my son’s academic year. Each session his tutor helps him organize and plan for the week ahead. She then utilizes his homework to teach techniques and strategies on more efficient work habits. Engaging minds has made an enormous difference in my son’s grades and confidence.

Parent of a 7th grader

We could not be happier with our son’s tutor at Engaging Minds. He and his tutor have a wonderful rapport and even though she works him hard, he loves to go. In only a few short months he has made great strides. We look forward to continued growth.

Parents of a 10th grader

Thank you for your dedication, patience and persistence with our son. It definitely paid off! We went from “homework hell” to independently problem-solving the best time to complete homework based on the day’s activities along with independent completion of homework. If that’s not success, I don’t know what is! Furthermore, our instructor got our son to not protest about coming to EM (huge feat!!) and developed a wonderful rapport with him. He definitely has more confidence about his abilities to break tasks down and we have seen a HUGE change at home in his approach to schoolwork and management of his time and materials. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you!

Parent of a 4th grader

My son would not have made it through 8th grade in one piece without the help of his tutor at Engaging Minds. My son’s tutor was able to help him break up long-term assignments into manageable pieces (both for him to do, and me to understand) and coached him through each step of the process. When he first came to Engaging Minds he had no organization skills and a very difficult time with any writing assignments. By the end of the year – even though he still didn’t enjoy writing – he could sit in a room with his tutor and crank out a writing assignment with only a few prompts or helpful suggestions. I would highly recommend Engaging Minds to any family who has a child that is struggling with school and/or homework. Sending my son there twice a week was one of the smartest decisions I have made for my child.

Parent of a 8th grader

Thanks for your continued detailed updates. Our son seems to be more organized and less stressed in the past couple of months, so we are really pleased with the progress and work you have done with him. Thank you!

Parent of a 11th grader

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all you do! Our son looks forward to coming in, and I know he walks out feeling proud and accomplished. I enjoy reading the updates and hearing about the strategies you are teaching him. Your warm and enthusiastic manner has won him over! Thank you so much!

Parent of a 5th grader

I wanted to let you know that your program literally changed our daughter. She has improved in all areas of school and now really enjoys learning. I am blown away by what a difference just a year has made. Thank you!

Parent of a 4th grader

This is the second year that our daughter has been working with a tutor from Engaging Minds. She has a good rapport with her tutor and is developing a more positive attitude toward school. While it is still a challenge for her to complete her work consistently, she has greatly improved. And as her parents, we’ve been able to step back from the homework process, which has greatly improved our relationship. We have recommended Engaging Minds to others.

Parent of a 11th grader

We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience with Engaging Minds. Our daughter was carefully matched with a tutor who would likely work well with her, and she has been wonderful! Our daughter has been steadily learning to plan and track her work, both in longer projects like papers, as well as in setting a schedule for reviewing a topic leading up to an exam. Each week after a session, we receive a secure message from the tutor describing in detail what she and our daughter worked on, what they accomplished, ways that we can help her, and plans for next steps. The tutor has also been very receptive when we’ve suggested particular topics to focus on for a session, such as planning out the work on a particular paper, or for a specific test. Finally, we’ve found Dan Levine, the founder and owner, to be extremely responsive to questions, and a great source of advice on working with our daughter. Engaging Minds shows a strong commitment to the success and well-being of our child, and it shows in multiple ways, especially with her growing study skills and confidence in her ability to get her school work done effectively.

Parent of a 9th grader

Our son has been working with Engaging Minds for a little more than a year and is now progressing toward handling his school work in an independent fashion. He has learned many strategies and skills for understanding his school assignments and coming up with a plan for how to manage his time to complete his school work around a busy sports schedule. He has worked with other tutors in the past which were helpful in getting assignments completed, but we certainly feel that Engaging Minds is teaching him the tools to be able to handle all of his school work on his own in the near future. He has progressed from being on an IEP in his early years, to then starting school years below that current grade level, to now having achieved the honor roll in 2/3 marking periods this past year. More importantly he is gaining confidence in being able to manage his time and school work. His Engaging Minds tutor is great, and he actually looks forward to his sessions so that he can work through his plan over the next week. I would highly recommend Engaging Minds to any parents who want their child to excel in school and life.

Parent of a 7th grader

Our daughter started with Engaging Minds during the 8th grade and is now in 10th grade. Her confidence in writing has grown by leaps and bounds. Our daughter’s organizational skills and efficiency have also markedly improved. Her tutor understood her learning style from the start which has allowed her to make these gains and become a more independent and confident student. She no longer dreads her writing assignments. We are quite pleased with Engaging Minds and would highly recommend them.

Parent of a 10th grader

I couldn’t be more pleased with my son’s instructor and the Engaging Minds program. This is such a unique program where children learn how to learn. My son is developing skills that will benefit him throughout his life. The best part is that every session is engaging and fun!

Parent of a 3rd grader

My son called me on the way home from his session this week — he couldn’t WAIT until he got home to tell me how helpful his tutor is to him right now with his college essays. He didn’t want to stop working but the clock ran out! He is feeling much better and more confident working with her. Your services are making a big difference for him all around. We are so glad we found you guys!

Parent of a 12th grader

I feel like my son is getting so much out of his time at Engaging Minds. I am so pleased with all of the skills that are covered in his weekly tutoring session. It’s great that he is able to get through so much of his homework, but I am even more pleased to see that there is so much teaching and instruction and skill-building going on. It is evident that the amount of explanation at school is not enough for him and that makes the time he spends with his tutor that much more valuable. It is wonderful to hear on our ride home from tutoring that my son feels better about what he is working on in school because his tutor was able to clarify and explain it to him in a way that he understood. Thank you, Engaging Minds!

Parent of a 6th grader

Our son, a high school sophomore, has been working with Engaging Minds since early in the middle of his freshman year. He began to struggle in middle school. He was having difficulty managing his time and organizing his materials and just generally feeling overwhelmed. He went from being a consistent A-B student through 6th grade, to barely a B-C student through 8th grade. We knew high school would pose great challenges for him with all of the independent work it required. It didn’t take long to see that our concerns were well warranted. He had tremendous difficulty organizing himself and planning ahead to keep up with the workload. Despite our best efforts to help in both gentle and demanding ways, he struggled mightily. Engaging Minds has helped him immeasurably over the last year. Their approach to coaching and providing tools and techniques helped him to gain some control where he thought he had none. Their expert, objective view has helped us to see that he is not lazy or incapable. What were once very emotional and tense conversations between us and our son have become much more productive and positive. He knows we are here to help him as are the people at Engaging Minds. The weekly email we receive debriefing us on their meetings provide a great view into how he sees himself doing. We are thrilled with the progress our son has made with Engaging Minds and we highly recommend them to anyone with a child who is struggling to succeed.

Parent of a 10th grader

I enrolled our son in Engaging Minds because writing was a struggle for him. He floundered with the initiation, organization, and completion of even the simplest writing assignments at homework time. After working with his instructor for only a couple of months, I’m so pleased with the changes. Recently, my son came home from school and told me that this homework was to write a paragraph about a recent field trip that they took at school. I told him that he didn’t have to start right away, but I wanted him to begin thinking about what he might like to write about. Without skipping a beat, he said to me, “mom, this is an easy assignment if you have the right graphic organizer.” I love that this program has given him the right tools to approach his assignments with confidence and a good attitude.

Parent of a 4th grader

We have been really blown away with the progress our son has made. He was diagnosed with ADHD and it was showing up most dramatically in the way his math grades were slipping from A’s and B’s to D’s and F’s as the complexity of the problems progressed throughout his 5th grade year. Engaging Minds came highly recommended to us and I felt like we had made a smart choice as soon as I walked through the door. Our son’s tutor has forged a lovely, engaged, attentive, and caring relationship with him. I can hear the tone of their voices through the door as they work, and I can feel how engaged his mind (and spirit!) actually is! As a parent who was struggling to try to help — and was perceived by my son as being a nag and “unnecessarily in the way,”I have been delighted at the way the emphasis has shifted away from “me trying to get my kid to do something” and onto his being in the capable hands of a really talented professional who draws him out and calls him up to higher levels of delivery within himself. But the best part is – the proof is in the pudding! His school work is highly organized this year, and his grade in math has been a solid A+ (literally!!) all term long!

My son and I are BOTH happier with the “burden” of checking in about grades and schoolwork being lifted off of our relationship and into professional, caring and capable hands! I have noticed that he and I are “hanging out” more and enjoying one another’s company more and seeking each other out more. YOU CAN’T PUT A PRICE TAG on that! Engaging Minds is worth every penny on so many levels — especially the way the good feelings are spreading out into our everyday interactions and helping them to expand into a greater good feeling. THANK YOU!

Parent of a 6th grader

Thank you for doing such a great job with my son. His guidance counselor at the school cannot believe the difference in his confidence level and decreased anxiety. I am so happy we made the transition to Engaging Minds. It has really made a difference in my son’s self confidence, anxiety and grades. Thank you!

Parent of an 11th grader

Success in school requires a student to master so many skills. Our daughter has little difficulty taking in new information and new concepts. The challenge comes when she has to figure out what concept and information is relevant to any given assignment. She was wasting so much time when it came to completing her school work because she lacked the tools to organize herself and apply the right skills to the appropriate situation. After a few months, our daughter has developed a range of skills she employs to tackle her school work in a more focused manner. There is less time spent wondering which approach is the right one and more time spent completing her work.

Parent of a 4th grader

We are so thrilled with our son’s continued progress and the supportive group that is invested in his academic growth! Thank you for helping him to learn to become a productive and organized student.

Parent of a 4th grader

My son started with Engaging Minds in July, because writing assignments were so torturous—not just for him, but for the whole family. He immediately bonded with his instructor, and actually looks forward to seeing her each week. By the time he started school in September, he had already made noticeable progress. He no longer feared and hated writing assignments, and homework time became more pleasant for everyone. The school’s learning specialist is amazed at the progress he has made in 6 months, and I am thrilled.

Parent of a 4th grader

Our son has greatly benefited from the methods that Engaging Minds uses to help students learn how to best approach their work. His organizational skills and his ownership of school assignments have evolved. His ability to approach complex assignments–in math or writing–by breaking them down into defined components and working in an orderly manner toward an end result is continually developing. Moreover, he enjoys his sessions, and his self-confidence has grown. Through Engaging Minds, he is acquiring critical-thinking skills that allow him to master the process of how to work through any question both now in school and hopefully in the future.

Parent of a 3rd grader

Our daughter has been meeting with a tutor at Engaging Minds weekly for this past year. She has always had difficulty with her writing assignments. Just getting the assignment would intimidate her and she wouldn’t even know how to get started, much less organize her thoughts for the larger assignment. This year, though, has been different. Her tutor has used different organizers and techniques with her and reinforced them all through the year. When our daughter received her final writing assignments for this year, she started an outline right away and knew how she wanted to tackle the essay as a whole. She was confident with her ideas and supporting evidence for the larger writing assignment and came to her tutoring sessions looking for reinforcement of and guidance with what she had already started. She has grown confident in her abilities and really enjoys her sessions with her tutor. This isn’t the first time she has had a writing tutor, but it is the first time that she has shown such growth in her writing and feels that much of it is a result of her work with her tutor.

My son is beginning to wind down his time with EM. You have helped him tremendously! He’s better organized with his writing and feels far more confident about school. He’s now getting A’s across the board! I greatly appreciate your invaluable assistance for two of my children over the years!

With the help of Engaging Minds, our son has become a confident Senior in high school who has just about completed the college application process. He is handling his responsibilities, and he did very well in Q1 at school. Engaging Minds has been the difference between success and failure for him. We cannot speak more highly of an organization, and will always be a reference. At this time, Dylan needs to stand on his own; thank you for putting him on the right path!

Engaging Minds has been a wonderful place for my son. They have done a great job improving his executive functioning and organizational skills. They are always flexible and accommodating to meet with him not only during his scheduled time, but also whenever he needs an extra appointment to work on an assignment with an upcoming due date. Even my son sees the value in this, as most times, it comes from him to ask to make an extra appointment to work on a project. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and encouraging. They are also very good at communicating with the parents after each session, so we are always very well informed about what he’s working on. I highly recommend Engaging Minds!

It is with GREAT excitement I share about our fabulous experience with Engaging Minds. We recently discovered Engaging Minds. Ever since my daughter’s first meeting with her tutor, we were completely WOWED by her experience! My daughter left the session feeling confident, heard, connected and believe it or not, truly looks forward to her weekly visits at Engaging Minds. The attention that the tutors provide for each student is phenomenal. As a parent, I also enjoy receiving an email of what they accomplished during the session, how my daughter is progressing, and other areas of feedback that we should be paying close attention to. This has been such a crucial part in not only my daughter’s educational development but also a huge boost of confidence with her performance in the classroom. I believe this is one AMAZING investment her future! I am so impressed with the personal connection and I am thrilled that we will continue this relationship with Engaging Minds throughout her years in public school! Thank you, Engaging Minds, for playing an instrumental piece in bettering my daughter’s academic future!

Our daughter, currently a high school sophomore, has been working with Engaging Minds since freshman year. She was an A student in 6th and 7th grade and started struggling in 8th grade with completing writing assignments and general organizational skills. After determining that she had executive function problems, we contacted Engaging Minds. Engaging Minds has been a great help over the last year. Their approach to coaching and providing tools and techniques helped her to gain control of her academic life and give her more confidence in her abilities. Engaging Minds has been a valuable resource for our daughter. Their comprehensive emails after every session help us understand how to better support our daughter at home. We are very happy with the Engaging Minds staff and have recommended them to many friends and acquaintances.

I can’t say enough good things about Engaging Minds. When I initially spoke with Dan Levine about tutoring for my 9 year old daughter, I had a very positive gut reaction. I am happy to say that my experiences at Engaging Minds over the past three months have fully supported my instincts. My daughter LOVES her tutor. She leaves every session with her tutor looking happy, relaxed, and with a huge smile on her face. Homework has been a source of tension and misery for us for a while. Third grade, however, was a new low in the amount of time it took my daughter to complete the work in addition to the numerous tears and tantrums. This year, thanks to Engaging Minds, I have seen many positive changes in my daughter’s homework experience. Working with a tutor has reduced some of the tension in my relationship with my daughter because we both know there is one night a week when homework will get done without conflict. It has lifted a load off my shoulders and I feel calmer and more patient when I do help her with her homework. My daughter seems more open to my suggestions when she runs into problems and sometimes she even takes my advice! I sent my daughter’s tutor an e-mail describing one night’s homework experience as great. A word I have not used to describe homework in at least two years. Overall, I have seen my daughter’s confidence in her abilities grow. She has become more flexible in her approach to problems and she is more amenable to receiving help. My only regret is that we did not have Engaging Minds as a resource until this year. I am so grateful for all that my daughter’s tutor has done for her. I highly and unequivocally recommend Engaging Minds!

Thank you so much for all your help with our son while he was a sophomore. He has taken the skills that he learned at Engaging Minds and continues to use them everywhere: in high school, while he was in an intense summer program at NYU, and especially during the college application process. He was able to be finished with all his college applications by Thanksgiving, which is so early. Not only does he use his organization skills for school related things, he uses them for managing his band! We are happy to let you know that he was accepted to his first choice University and has already decided to go there for its Music Industry program.

Just to remind you, our son was ready to drop out of high school when we brought him to Engaging Minds! Thank you so much for all your work!

My daughter began working with Engaging Minds in November of her 8th grade. In the first session, her tutor worked with her to identify her strengths and weaknesses in a fun and engaging post-it note exercise. Not only did this win my daughter over, but it was a valuable assessment that got at the root causes of why she was struggling to manage her homework. Very quickly she was less stressed about school and was much better positioned to complete her assignments on time. Now, four months into her freshman year, my daughter has just recently taken complete responsibility for her homework (meaning I no longer need to be involved at all). We are both happy about that. She is currently working with her tutor on improving her planning skills and learning how to break assignments down.

My daughter’s feedback about why she likes Engaging Minds: the one-on-one attention; the way her tutor helps her to break everything down into manageable tasks; and the fact that they have every office supply you could want to help you organize and get the work done (her favorite store is Staples, so make what you will of that last one).

In 8th grade my son struggled with organization and managing his increased workload. He had trouble organizing his thoughts and his writing, being able to read and pull out an organized thought flow from texts, and keeping track of assignments. He also had a hard time getting a handle on homework expectations. At Engaging Minds, my son has been working with a tutor specifically on these issues. They met several times prior to school starting and set up his assignment notebook, binders, etc., and she’s given him ways to graphically organize writing assignments that really seem to be helping. She’s also helping him to keep track of assignments and plan out his work. Best of all, my son is really engaged in his school work, feels smart, is on top of his homework and very proud of himself! Without Engaging Minds, I’m sure my son would still be struggling. If you have a student in need of some extra help I would highly recommend Engaging Minds!

I went to Back-to-School Night last night and a teacher my daughter had last year and again this year, stopped me and said, “Your daughter is like a different person.” He told me that she is on track this year, passing in everything on time and much more responsible. I’m thrilled she has made such strides and have no doubt that much of her growth is a direct result of working with her tutor at Engaging Minds. My daughter has begun keeping her room clean and making herself lists of things to accomplish. She has created a spot on the dining room table where she is comfortable getting her homework done. Her tutor at Engaging Minds had her create a master schedule that includes both school and her personal life so that she can plan for homework while also being to have a social life that didn’t get in the way of school first. My daughter liked that idea and adopted it immediately. She has a new and burgeoning appreciation for and interest in creating some order for herself and being productive. The bottom line is that while I had no doubt she would benefit from Engaging Minds, she is moving faster in the right direction and doing better than I ever could have hoped. She feels supported by her tutor, goes willingly and comes home in a great mood because managing her time and assignments just got a huge boost.
