Before putting a bow on the school year, reach out to your child’s teacher or guidance counselor to identify academic skills your child can focus on this summer to gain confidence and return to school in the fall ready to go. The academic summer slide is a real phenomenon and this infographic explains succinctly why summer academic engagement is so important. Even a few hours each week of reading, writing, and/or math will make a big difference come September. A brief email exchange will ensure that the work your child does during the summer will be strategic, focused, and productive.
