“Go finish your homework” won’t get it done

“Go finish your homework.” For a student who struggles with executive function, this is a difficult direction to complete. It’s too open-ended. Try a more explicit path to completion: How will they finish? What tools or supports can they use? What’s the order of operations and why? 

Bonus: If multi-step directions are hard to follow, try one explicit direction at a time.
