Productive, fun way to practice writing

Hand-written letter writing is fast becoming a lost art. Yet, writing letters is an excellent way to reinforce writing skills learned during the school year, while also practicing an important life skill. So, in keeping with the times, encourage your child to use email to write letters to stay in touch with friends and family this summer. Unlike a text message or a tweet (which many post without much thought!), a letter will include a greeting, body paragraph(s), and a closing, and requires significantly more thought and engagement by the writer. So collect some email addresses and get your child started in some “old school” pen paling this summer!
