The Power of “Yet”

Sometimes it’s simply a matter of mindset in the way students view and then approach challenges. When your child feels stuck and expresses that they can’t do something, ask them to add the word “yet” to the end of their sentence. Not only does “yet” offer a measure of hope that they can, it also acts as a call-to-action to explore and learn more. It’s empowering. Try it!

“I don’t know how to do this … yet.”
“I don’t understand this … yet.”
“I’m not good at this … yet.”
