Tip of the Week

December 27, 2021

Flexibility required

Especially in the midst of this current surge of Covid, something is bound to happen this vacation week that will require you and your family to alter your plan. Being flexible and rolling with unexpected change is difficult, particularly when we’re feeling disappointed or frustrated. When your plans fall through or change this week, take a deep breath and use it as an opportunity to model flexible thinking for your child. Talk through the change of plan out loud so your child can be privy to your thought process and see how it’s done. Flexibility is an important executive function skill. The more students see it modeled, the better they’ll be able to respond when you’re not around to problem-solve for them.
