Tip of the Week
Speed vs. Process
Many students feel pressure to move quickly through a test and, thus, forgo employing the key strategies they’ve been learning that will lead to a more successful outcome. When the pressure is on, speed often upstages process. Remind your child to activate the reading comprehension and writing strategies they’ve been learning while in test situations. Taking a few extra moments to circle and underline key phrases in questions and generating a quick outline for an essay question will ensure they give themselves the best chance at answering each question successfully. Taking time for process even when time feels short and the pressure is on can make a real difference in earning the grade they studied so hard to achieve.
