Executive Function and Halloween

Boo! Don’t be scared by all the sugary treats your child is bringing home after Trick-or-Treating – encourage him to use his Halloween goodies to help him strengthen his executive function skills! With a likely goal of collecting as much candy as possible, help your child map a route that maximizes the number of houses visited in as efficient a manner as possible. This kind of goal-setting, advance planning and follow-through are great EF skills to practice. For more practice with planning and organizing, help him determine how many pieces of candy he can (or should) eat each day until it’s gone. Happy Halloween!
