Explain the “why” of a given task

Explain the “why” of a given task to your child. Often a child with executive function challenges can’t organically comprehend why, for example, he needs to go through the instructions in a math word problem and highlight/underline the key information. By helping him understand that by doing this he is less likely to miss any of the steps, he will likely be more invested in doing this initial work.
