Create an agenda at the start of the homework routine

Teach your child how to create an agenda at the start of his homework routine each day. An agenda will aid him in planning and managing his workload for the evening, and will give him a sense of ownership over the process of working through it. Agendas are extremely helpful for students who struggle with executive function skills as they compel students to practice a range of skills including task initiation, planning and time management, prioritization, estimation of time-on-task, and goal-setting. Making an agenda is also a great way to ease into the homework hour(s) and get started, and provides another opportunity for your child to learn how to step back and assess before jumping straight in.
