Tip of the Week

We’re all wired differently

When working with our children on strengthening their executive function skills, often our natural instinct is to fall back on what works for us and push that approach with them. However, it is likely that your child isn’t wired exactly the same way and thinks differently. Our role is to empower them to choose strategies that make sense for them and work best for their learning style. This requires flexible thinking on all sides, and a willingness to let the student take the wheel. You will likely find that with a voice and a choice your child will take more ownership of the process and be more likely to engage with the strategies they choose.

Later this week, in a rare follow-up email, we’ll share an opportunity for a wider audience of parents to learn more and engage more deeply around executive function strategies to support their children at home. Stay tuned!
